Question Help -car etc plans needed

    Ladies and Laddies

    Howdy

My men's shed has a need for some basic vehicle and toy plans

The thought is that there are a number of members whom don't have any particular projects of their own
There are also a number of community pre-schools and council run day care centres in the area who would love some wooden toys

So what I'm after is recommendations for plans for sturdy toys - the ones that are not too intricate and have stood the test of time.
And the sort that can be made by men's sheddies who do not necessarily have a high set of woodworking skills but will learn some woodworking basics while making toys. Eg oneye's race cars look pretty speccy but we need to be able to use the plans - and I don't want to steal anyone's intellectual property

I've thought of dolls houses and block sets (like those made for my son's school last year)

So what I'm doing is asking for your wisdom in pointing me to the wooden toys which have stood the test of time. If you have a favourite I'd love to know what it is (and a link would be nice)

in the meantime I am going through a few books I have along with searching the web and generally looking in this part of the forum
    regards
    Nick

    G'Day Nick,
I made this lot about 5yrs ago for KindyGym and to date have only had to repair 2....
Do a design to whatever suits the timber grain...
Wheels are just 2" holesaw in hardwood decking or flooring...
Just shaped 4x2 plus 5/16" axles with stain & clear lacquer...
    Cheers, Peter

PS - I've made similar to give away & sell, with the extra deal of a through hole for a cabin plus bradpoint drill holes for headlights & taillights.

    Hi Nick,

There's a set of free plans at http://www.toymakingplans.com/websit...ls-SignUp.html

They are small, but you can just enlarge them to whatever size you want.

There are plenty of good plans on this site, and everything comes around on a sale/special sooner or later. I can't wait to build the Bobcat for me the little guy to play with.

    Nathan.
