Default Highway Wheels and Spoked Wheels

Since the subject of wheels is floating in the air I thought I would share this treat. On another forum a member gave me a link to how to make spoked wheels.

While there I also found this thread on how to make highway wheels.

Here is a pdf to go along with it.

Also found complete plans to a firetruck for which these wheels go to. This was on the internet so I am assuming it is ok to post. It was posted as each page so I assembled them into 1 pdf.

Here is a link to some more toys.

    Hope everyone enjoys.

I wrote a basic hub and spoke template generator that may come in handy for setting out wooden wheel hubs and spokes. here - Printable Hub and Spoke Templates - Metric

You enter Hub Diameter, Hub Width, Spoke Diameter and number of spokes and it draws a full scale diagram you can print, cut and wrap around the hub to mark the spoke centres.

Is this sort of thing any benefit?
If there's anything else like this that would come in handy, please let me know.

    Hi Bret & All
This is the site where I got my ideas from Wooden Wheels Wooden Wheels
Its very similar to the site that has just been put up (with the exception of using the profile cutter and cutting the center out of the formed wheel ) then turning down the piece that was cut out to form the hub. I found with eight spokes it was easy to do by eye with a drill on the lathe chuck
I first got the idea from the toys and joys spoke wheels when one of the wheels centers fell out it was at this stage the penny dropped.

I have made similar truck wheels but not with the center hub I think that's a great idea and will try it at some point in the future. I am wondering Bret are you going to make the spoke jig from my post of a couple of days ago I would like to see some pictures of it on completion if you don’t mind colbra"]
