I agree with what Handyjack says Even if people don't have problems with such small pieces it is better to use some sort of jig and clamp I for one certainly use them. I am making a jig at the moment to drill holes more for getting the holes all in the same place on multiple pieces.
The builds are certainly coming along great and good to hear you are enjoying it after all that is the main reason many on here do this wonderful hobby

Had A Brain Explosion This Mornin', Better Late Than Never I Suppose.

This mornin’ as soon as me feet hit the bedroom floor I knew that me purple patch (feelin’ good) had come to an end. I know it may not be of interest to you all but yesterday to channel out my 16 blocks I had to adjust those darn clamps approximately 64 times plus some. Settin’ me little jig up this morin’ took a little time due to me outa control tremors, but with the stop block in place I got all 45 blocks cut.

I was in no mood to spend all of today doin’ up and undoin’ bloody clamps and after stuffin’up the first seven blocks I decided to call it quits. It’s at times like this I generally walk away from what I’m tryin’ to do because I end up wastin’ a lot of timber. Then I had a Brain Explosion that would have been nice to have had yesterday.

    1. Set the jig up to make two cuts on all my blocks.
    2. I moved jig to the left a little less than saw blade thickness clamp in place and make two more cuts per block.
    3. Another slight adjustment under saw blade size made another two cuts per block.
    4. Finally the last adjustment and I had all me 35 blocks channeled out.

Well that's it for a while people, have plenty of hand sandin' to do, will get back when I got somethin' to show.
Just wish these Brain Explosions would come sooner rather than later.

    Hooroo for now.

I know that feeling when things go wrong and it takes a couple of days to suddenly realise there is an easy way and then sit there wondering why I did not think of it earlier.

Anyway it is good to see that you got them all done in the end, and as for sanding that is a job I don't like that much but needs doing

    G'day All,
Yes I'm still here but sadly not had much time at all in me shed, I wont bore ya all to death but I have a bit of a battle presently with some very painful Dystonia which is playin' hell with the right side of me body namely me right hand, foot and toes. The wife and I should have been in Brisbane at the start of August but me Neurologist who cares for me has become very sick and we have had to find someone new who can guide me with me Parkinson's. Not havin' anyone in our part of Qld has made things tricky but problem solved have a new one in Brisbane and we'll be there I think sometime in early September. Like I say bugger all shed time until we get this problem sorted.

However I have been busy doin' little exercises with me right hand to keep the fingers in trim but sadly I drivin' the good wife up the wall. She has a new sayin' in our house, 'You And Those Bloody Scorpians'!!!!!!!!! Now I like me little stubbies of Bundaberg Ginger Beer and since me Dystonia has been givin' me hell I often find something to play with in me right hand to keep me fingers occupied. I know is not anything to do with me current truck build, but this is what I been drivin' the wife up the wall with.

I discovered a way to turn the tops of me stubbies into Scorpians, yes the wife finds them in me shirt pockets, on the kitchen table, in the cloths basket and rattlin' around in the washin' machine. To make things more excitin' I tossed some spray can paint on some and put them in her outside pot plants, just to keep her on her toes.

I aint much of a story writer but over the last few months I put together a small one page web site (with the help of the wife) for my Parkinson's friends who are interested in how I play around in me workshop. I've tried to explain the best I can how I'm tryin' to deal with what ails me and live with it. Its not a great web page but for me friends who suffer the same that ails me hopefully it will encourage them to try and do something rather than let what ails us to control our lives. Me articles are not well written and may not be of interest to any of you, but it helps stop me from goin' crazy. So check it out at Only Page

Well that's it for now, you people have been really busy and I have a lot to catch up on.

Take Care, Stay Safe and Travel Safe.

    Hooroo.
    Kev.
