    Default Military train

To help pass some time,I have decided to build a train. Not just any train,a military train.Cannons, ammo car, searchlight car, troop car, helicopter transport, tank car, deuce and half transport..I started one train car today,it measures 20 inches long,5 inches wide.Depending on what i come up with, this will be at least 20 feet in length.Question is,what am I gonna do with it when finished? Attached are some examples of cars I think are cool

FOZZY, all I can say is "WOW".

I don't build toys, but I will be following this thread with great interest, over the months/years it takes you to build this train.

Good luck mate. Great project and a real challenge.

    G'Day Fozzy,
You'll be able to have your own war games with this lot, they look super.
G'day Paul. Welcome to toymaking, you are in for a treat here.
It won't take that long before you see the Fozzy originals take shape, he's a wiz of design & craftsmanship.
Looking forward to see this train & & arsenal take shape,
    Cheers, crowie

    G'Day Fozzy,
They all seem to have a double set of springs in the centre and a large bearing mount at each end for the axles.

Maybe you could do a cutout on the centre & add some small compression srpings,
then add a slice of dowel to represent the bearing block?
    Cheers, crowie

While i wish i had a hollow chisel mortiser,I shaped a dowel and cut in half to resemble springs..With some sanding and finishing the pieces of walnut for bearing ends may do the trick.I should have done that before adding springs..Look better?

    Well done Fozzy.
Could you recess the springs say halfway into the frame.
The walnut blocks make a good representation of the bearing blocks.
    Keep up good work.
    Cheers, crowie

I have to figure a way to recess the springs like crowie suggested..That cab was cut three times, glued and crushed before I got it the way I liked it

I am glad I got a front row seat for this build.

I am still in awe of this type of work.
