It looks you only have a bit part now Peter. Handy appears to have taken over the staring roll.

At least you are doing more than me at the moment Peter. I did intend to do a little turning then back to some models as I have my next project planned thanks to Bret for the help on deciding, but someone wanted 3 more money boxes and the wife said she also wanted 2 more also had to stop and make the shelf for my sister.

    G'day Derek,
    Ah, Bret's a top bloke.....well done!!!

BUT as we used to say when working for a living in paid employment.....

This maybe the bread & butter but the jam is at home....

And my daughter keeps reminding her husband "happy wife, happy life"......

Wise words from someone so young.....

Money boxes first for my money sir....Cheers, Peter

Thanks Peter, I feel lucky to have a couple of beautiful grandsons to spoil with hand-made wooden toys....
The finishing will take a little while as it's a little more complicated than at first glance, but fun and one has to love shed time..
    Cheers, crowie

Default It's been a case of taking my time with this build.....

It's been a case of taking my time with this build as it's not as easy a build as I first thought....
It's taken most of today to finish off and assemble the mast & boom.
I have had to get off my feet more than I'd like as the back is also locking up again, bugger....just can't get a good run on....
Anyways, some progress has been made as the photos will show...
I remade the crane mast cabin & counterweight twice as i wasn't happen with the timber contrast..
I marked out the mast base and the lazy susan along with drilling the axle peg holes...
I'm adding headlights, taillights and warning lights...
The engine is fitted behind the drivers cabin and their'll be a set of exhaust stacks...
As my neighbour says "slowly slowly catch a monkey"....
    Cheers, crowie

    Coming along nicely crowie.

Haven't lurked in the toy making forums much but there's some great stuff here. This is a great example.

    Will be watching with interest.

Bad backs are a bugger! DAMHIK!!!

Nice going Crowie in any case.

I might have a crack at one of these later when I get a few "must be done" jobs under control.

Looking at your last photo Peter the idea and addition of the driving cab on the base makes for a much better base. Good job.

Sorry to hear about you health

Thanks Derek, I'm just hoping the drivers cabin will look okay once finished, but the grandsons won't complain, just have a heap of fun.

Looks good Peter. Hope the back start to improve. They're a real bugger when they play up and can stuff all well made plans.

Default What a difference 24 hours can make....

What a difference 24 hours can make, especially if you rest and have some pills...still sore but okay....shed time, yea!!

Much to my very great enjoyment, I got some more done on the crane this afternoon....

    It's coming together now...I marked out and fitted the Headlights, Taillights, Exhaust Stacks & Warning Lights;
along with the assembly of the mast base & lazy susan....fixed up a mistake at the top of the mast with a little modification...
The positioning of the lazy susan was a little tricky and securing it into the old red gum, so hard that I over-sized the pilot hole...
Must have done it right, though as the mast stands and supports itself vertical...

    Cheers, crowie
