Thanks Bret, but I a bit confused "blue juice".
I did a google search and got everything from a band, clothes, fishing charter and a wild cocktail drink???

Yes Ray I used a strip of the timber which came out of the 100+year old Boston pump organ...

Thank you Arthur, as I said previously, the build has been a little trickier than at first glance of the plans, but with others helping it's been fun..

Default Today's progress - on the home straight!!

Today's progress - on the home straight!!

I finished off the front of the boom. Did the final assembly & glue up of the mast base rollers [I also have pinned the knobs to ensure it's little boy proof] .

I screwed the "lazy susan" into the chassis and fitted the 8 wheels, all with a S/S washer and a nylon washer...

Now the dilemma; I want to use two [2] different coloured nylon line for the boom & the crane hook.
I have 4 to choice from: pink; orange; yellow; flouro green/yellow ..... BUT what combination do I use..
I'll ask the good lady when she gets home from work, but I thought I first ask the mates on the forum, thank you..
    Cheers, Peter

PS - the crane weighs a ton, you have to use 2 hands to pick it up.....

    Peter,

Looks like that little blue bloke is checking out the heavy lift gear. How's his operators ticket going.

    Looking great mate.
I'm with Ray Orange & Yellow.
Just make sure Handy stays away from the line with that saw.
You could have a OH&S problem there!

I would go the green and orange.
This one is coming together very quickly. You'll be onto the next project before you know it.

PS. The Tough Tipper makes a great backdrop.

Default The Mobile Crane with a drivers cabin, engine, bullbar & lights is finished.....

Thank you gents all for the encouragement and assistance plus of course the fun during the build....

My 6yr old grandson and I did the rigging on the crane yesterday afternoon, after I'd put 5 coats of clear polyurethane on it...

I have also added the "number plate" Peterbilt Lapel Pin which do look great if I do so say myself....

The mix of timbers & colours have come up a treat with the finish and the crane works quite well lifting a Model T Ford easily....

The grandsons have been playing with it for the past 24hrs as they had a sleep-over with gran & pa last night....
[the 3yr old has difficulty lifting it as it's quite heavy with that "spotted gum" chassis and all the hardwood in the base, mast & boom]

As to the next project, I'm not sure as I have a few kindygym props to do for by good looking....
    Cheers Peter

PS - I may need to give Handy a bit of a rest, he's worked hard on this build and in the process got everyone into some strife....

That's come up a treat Peter. Nice closeup photography so we can see the details.
The grandkids will have hours of fun with that and all your other toys you have made for them.
    Keep up the good work.

Looks Fantastic Peter! The Grandsons will treasure it for years to come. Look forward to your next project. I have several of Handy's brothers if he is in need of assistance.

Finished great Peter and sounds like it has had a good test. Now the finish is on as you say it really brings out the different woods and their grains.

You may have to build your future projects by yourself as it looks like handy is yearning to be a crane driver.

You will have to go through all your plans now to work out the next project that is after the kindygym bits and pieces
