Making some model truck wheels.
I built two wheel making jigs and here's my test run.
These are pictures of the wheels being put together.

Gluing up and sanding.

Then over to the drill press to drill out the hub.
To keep everything trued up I drilled a 1/4 hole in the table which is the same as the wheel axle holes, then place a dowel and tire over this so all my drilling will be center of the tire.

Here's a couple of my hub ideas but we'll see, I don't even know what I made them for yet, this was just a test.

These are wheely good.
The ones with the angled tread look just that much better and I like your rims. (What not chromed!!)
Just be careful that you don't go into the supply bussiness.

To make or not to make, that is the question.

You know what I have to do, figure out some plans.
I've got a Toyota PreRunner out in the drive way and I love it so one of those would be fun but one to fit the tires will be quite BIG or should I say HUGE 20"L x 6"H!!!
I know that's not big by Keith's builds but not wanting to build another room to the house to store it. LOL
I built a T&J'S Hummer and it's my biggest model so need to make up my mind if I need another giant dust collector. LOL
I really just made them as a test of the new jigs so really don't have to use them but!!!!!.

You can always park the model in the garage.
Not sure where you will keep your daily drive though.

Now I got to find something to put them on. LOL

Or you could put them in the back of a "pick up" as a load, or even in an open railway car. That way you still have them until a project for them comes along.
Looking good.

Mate, these are beautiful wheels. May I ask what the thickness is for the disks, please?

Antcha
If I remember right 1/4" for the inside ones and just a little more for the out side with the rounded edge.
Thanks all for checking them out.

I really like this thread.
Mainly, for it solves a lot of fiddly little jobs with some ingenious jigs. Gave me some quality ideas for improving my wheel making process.
Thanks!
