    Default my latest

not exactly a work in progress but not finished yet ... should finish it this week ... this is from the luc st amour book : antique cars and trucks

photos show some of the detail i have added

    1. i made the seat up a little wider than needed, cut it into strips and ran a roundover on the edges to make it look a bit uphostered
2 and 3 ... i made a little jig to drill holes for spokes ... the index wheels have 8 and 12 positions respectively ... the wheel still needs to go onto the lathe to shape it a bit more and apply some tread
4 the mudguards and a little steering wheel turned from silky oak
5 a different approach (for me) to trying to get a gearstick that looks ok
6 progress so far in putting it together and if you can make it out the bandsaw cuts into the ragtop to try to make it look like folded leather

still need to get the radiator done and i will take some more photos after i have finished (probably later this week)

    regards david

I really like the jig that you have made for the spokes.

It is a great looking project

Look forward to your next instalment

so here it is ... overall length just under a foot

the timbers are silky oak, australian beech (mudguards/bumpers and windscreen) and redgum (seats/ragtop/radiator insert) ... wheels have huon pine hubs with ng rosewood rims

there is a bit more detail here on folds in the ragtop

i have some ideas for future improvements to the spoked wheels

    regards david
