When I paint toys I use inexpensive acrylic paint... like craft paint.... I find it easy to work with.... non toxic...... and it comes in lots and lots of colours. Once painted I give it a spray on clear finish for durability.

Have to say tho.... I really like natural wood tones much better then paint. If possible I just do a bit of accent painting, like an eye on an animal.

Thanks, I feel same as you to keep the wood really natural, but I have some "requaierments..." like Black tyres or Red fire truck..

Did making non color varnish on the acrilic paint change the original color?

You can use food dies and boot polish for colour also, then clear

gidday, nice truck, i use a stain called "black japan" for tyres, one coat still lets you see the timber grain, multiple coats get darker and darker. For clearcoating timber I use different clear varnishes, tung oil, danish oil and decking oils.
