Default Pedaling Cyclist - Trying to get myself going again....

Pedaling Cyclist - Trying to get myself going again....IMG_2227.jpgIMG_2226.jpgIMG_2225.jpg

It's been a very hot, busy couple of months with birthdays, trips to Queensland to see my mum, as well as some disappointments & disagreements and I've struggled to make time and find time to relax in the shed making toys.

One of the mates on Lumberjock made the "Pedaling Cyclist" toy for his market stall and was kind enough to share the quite old plan with me.

Well today "Handy" and I have made a start on that toy, printing out some plan patterns, gluing them to some Tassie Oak board with "Glue Stick" then cutting then roughly on the bandsaw before shaping the parts on the bobbin sander.
I've made the parts thicker than the plans to cope with grandsons play, which has added some processing to the project.

Now the day only got better as my neighbour who's a bit of a "Dad & Dave" sort of bloke, came over with a beautiful quite large FORD badge which just had to be added to the first of this toys series of WIP photos.

And NO you don't you cheeky mob, don't start!! ... It was a generous and kind gift which I like!!

    Cheers, Peter

I see you and Handy have been around at Keith's place and knocked off the plate.
This should have a good "cycle".

The emblem is off a truck judging by its size!

Glad to see you back in the shed again Peter. And also to see a great little project perfect for the return.

Default We have pedals and wheels....

    We have pedals and wheels....

The front wheel has proved difficult as the axle must be fixed in the wheel along with the cranks....

Superglue and brads to the rescue along with a couple of nylon washers to ensure everything turns freely...

The rear wheels were cut with a 40mm wheel cutter from some Spotted Gum; the body is Tassie Oak; the front wheel recycled fence paling....

The body parts as well as the bike parts are all oversized to cope with little boys playing with the cyclist so I've had to add hips to the rider...

Looking great Peter. I am sure that some child will have great fun with it once it is completed. Is handy building it or pushing it.

Default Well it's been raining here like we'll need Noah's Ark soon.....

Well it's been raining here like we'll need Noah's Ark soon and my shed has been wet, wet, wet with water seeping through the sandstone rock we cut into, to create the shed under the house behind the small garage.

I have a 26" fan running 24/7 to try to create airflow and remove the damp but with some 480mm of rain in the past 4 weeks its been up hill.

Saying that, shed time has been sorely missed as I just haven't felt like being there so have kept myself busy doing inside painting in very small lots for our daughter and son-in-law.

Today was the first sunny day in a long time so it was cleanup time BUT then remembered I'd finished the Pedaling Cyclist toy and not shown off the completed project.

Not one hundred percent happy with it by its already withstood the "grandson test" so what it lacks in finish it makes up in strength and play-ability.

    Cheers, Peter

Looks great Peter. You have managed to get more shed time than me as I have now managed to break my big toe and have been told to keep it rested so no shed for me.
