Thumbs up Quick display self for my models

The BOSS said to get my models under control so built these simple wall selves to get everything up off the floor and out of the way.
This ain't all of them but gets the majority out of the way. LOL
There's 30 something dowels in this small project.

Now I can get back to building my tracks. lol

I know where you are coming from - Cathie said exactly the same thing to me.

    Looking good htl (Bruce)

A little tip - build the BOSS something around the house and you will be able to continue for at least 3 months without any issues

    Regards

    Keith

That's what the shelf was for Keith and crowie. lol

Here's one I built for HER 40 years ago for the same reason but I took it over for other uses. LOL

It just hit me, this was a scratch build from a picture out of a book.
I hadn't realized I was doing scratch builds even back then. LOL

Very very nice HTL, you're obviously a craftsman with a lot of skill, I hope I could reach your level one day. That shelf unit is amazing.

Now to keep the model trains off the shelf and allow more space, just build the track for them as a shelf. Just think you could go wall to wall and if there is not enough space, just go through the wall.

    Well done

A quilting cupboard I made Cathie only gave me 12 months freedom to work on my locos

    Keep up your great work

Thumbs up Thoughts about super glue and wood glue

I've been model building for over two years now and hardly ever use wood glue, super glue has been my friend but building these shelve I had to go back to real wood working and it just about drove me nuts having to wait for the glue to dry!!!
Back when I had a real shop I could glue and clamp something up set it aside and get into some other part of the project but with my set up now I don't have the room so it really hit home how we will set up our shops for the work at hand but if and when we do some other style we need to rearrange for say longer cuts on the table saw then having to plain the parts.
With my modeling every thing is so short there's no need for a lot a room so every thing can be closer.
Having everything on wheels with locks helps in this dance of rearranging for the long stuff.
Just something I noticed having been away from cabinet building and the like for a long time.

G'Day Bruce, I don't have too much spare space in my shed but prefer Titebond Original to glue up.
YES, you have to wait for it to dry/cure but it grips pretty quickly [30mins] which allows for additional processes.
    Cheers, Peter

Crowie If I was building like you for grand kids I would have to use the Heavy Duty stuff too. LOL

Love your new trucks, they came out just right!!!

    Hi htl,

The tracks are coming along very nicely.

You requested a photo - not sure whether it was of the update to built in wardrobe for Cathies quilting or for my display stand.

    Attached are photos of both.

The work on Cathies cupboard only took a couple of days - so real value for money LOL

    Regards

    Keith

PS - My stand is glued and screwed together - Use Selleys Quickset PVA glue
