My rocking horses
In another thread STAR invited me to post photos my rocking horses, and here they are. This is what sparked me to take up woodwork 8 years ago. Having never done much woodwork before I had this crazy of making a rocking horse for my first daughter's second birthday. Three months late I finished my first major woodwork project. It was a very proud moment for to see how happy she was when she saw it. Fast forward another 4 years. I made another one for my second daughter's second birthday. (pic 2)
These 2 rocking horses are very special to my girls. It is something I gave them to keep for the rest of their life. So they are more than just a piece of toy. As a matter of fact my old daughter had a quick ride this morning. I looked at her and said 'That's the spirit.'
Since I have started this irreversible trend and as we are expecting our third child, I will have to make another one in a couple of years time. Can you imagine having 3 rocking horses in 1 house?Visit my website at www.myFineWoodWork.com

Thank you Wongo for showing us your two horses. They are an inspiration. It shows that Toy Making can take many forms, yet fit quite nicely in our little section plus the general woodworking area.

You are going to have to build a stable next Mr. Wong.
Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Congrats Papa Wongo lets hope this one is stallion material
Like Cliff's idea will it be Rosewood or Jarrah stable
No this time it has to be a motor vehicle Scott one with wheels which of course means you'll require a lathe

Just brillant Wongo,
I had a similar design as a child built by my dad.
Not a beautiful as yours.
I've been inspired to search out the plans for myself after seeing the "Rocking Horse Man" from Pittown on the TV and your horses have brought it all back.
Well done.
Cheers, crowie
