I remember somewhere along the line that there is a spray on rubber that is used for spraying and fine detail painting. The idea is that you spray the rubber onto the wood, in this case, that flame outline is drawn onto the rubber and then the outer shape is carefully cut around with a sharp craft knife. The part you want painted is carefully rubbed off and the surface is spray painted. When it's dry the rest of the rubber is just rubbed off with a finger and a clean shape is left behind.
Has anyone else has heard of this???My ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.

me too!
I've seen that paint on rubber masking. The plastic model people use it by brushing on and using a scalpel to remove fine detailed areas to be painted. I think it is called MASKOL?
fletty
yup, just googled it, Humbrol Maskol, brush it on, cut and remove the shape/s to be painted then remove it all

Finally Finished
I've finally finished the four [4] Rubber Band Dragsters......
Painting & assembly took longer than expected.
What an effort for someone who likes to get in and do, finishing the project quickly.....
The silicon on the wheels didn't work for me & started lifting; smooth cyprus pine wheels & no lathe to groove.
I've cleaned all the silicon off the rear wheel & added two [2] large rubber bands for grip.
I had tried a very large rubber band for the propulsion but all it did was spin the wheels as I'd over powered it; now I have a 110mm x 6mm rubber band which pushes it 5-6mtrs down the hallway.
The grandsons should have fun playing with them plus 2 to give away.
Happy & Safe Christmas to all.
May the love, joy, peace & hope of the season be yours throughout 2013.
Cheers, crowie
