Got some shed time after a busy weekend of celebrations..... You only turn 60 years young once.....
Tracey asked if I could make a truck for her as part of the Easter Guessing competition for the Boys & Girls Club....
The truck is loosely based upon a plan I found in the Australian Toymakers annual of 2004/2005....
The base is clear radiata pine, the front mudguards is recycle oregon, the cabin sides & back are recycled fence paling, the cabin roof is out of an old deck drawer, the radiator is merbau decking and the engine timber is anyone's guess....
Good start for a 4-5hrs of playing around....
The rear tray will be like that of a farm truck so the children/gymnastics can see the Easter eggs for there guess....
Apologies for the "phony" photos....Cheers crowie
PS - Thank you to my woodworking forum mates/friends who sent birthday greetings over the weekend, it's very much appreciated to know such good folk.

Happy belated special birthday Peter, Hope Handy didn't forget.
Looks like a fairly quick build if you keep up this rate.

Looking Great Peter!.
Love all the recycled timbers.
But I was just wondering what species of anyone's guess is it?
Cheers Old Timer

Thank you Trevor,
I'm pretty sure the "anyone's guess" piece of timber was in the lot the Dave TTC brought for me from Pittwater Pete's offcuts bin to the Katoomba GTG last year....
BUT I'm still none the wiser as to what it actually is!!! Maybe Dave, Pete or Dirk might sign on and tell us all??
Cheers, Peter

A belated Happy Birthday Peter. Wishing you many many more, and plenty of hours in the shed making many fantastic "Peterbilt" specials.
Oh to be 60 again

Having to make time to ensure the Easter Truck is ready on time.....
Having to make time to ensure the Easter Truck is ready on time.....
As I have no idea who might get this truck so I've had to strengthen it plus make it very safe...
The headlights are 1" dowel with a 3/4" forstner scarf....
The sides on the tray are 3/4" x 3/4" with 5/16" dowel along with a 2.3mm bamboo dowel through each to secure the dowels & sides plus I added a couple of screws from the bottom....
The exhaust stacks are plain but functional holding the front of the tray side along with a set of hunger-boards.....
The gate on the back of the tray is removable though I mucked up and it's not reversible....
Cheers, crowie...
PS - I showed my mate at the local fruit sop the early photos and he asked were the gear stick was, so one has been added......
[and again apologies for the phony photos]
