Bruce, How is that engine going to steam down the tracks without a tender with water & coal.....

The train is WOW, WOW, WOW and it seems to have come together oh so quickly...I've enjoyed the build and thank you for the photos & build notes, much appreciated.

    Cheers, Peter

The railways have various tender designs, sometimes even in the same class of engine. In America some tenders have a triangular shape, others the water part is very round and others the more conventional square tank. Also have a look at the different wheel arrangements.
Yes it is more work but if you were to make an 18 wheeler would you stop at just what we call the prime mover (engine and cab) or would you make a trailer (or three) be it flat, box or tanker?
Saying all that would also mean I need to build a cattle car and a caboose for it too, just like I did for my other trains.
Trains are a very dangerous project to start.
When I first started building I just loved Toys and Joys Caboose so built one but then you can't just do that it has to have an engine and then a tender and and......
But have no worry's I've already got the trucks done for the tender. LOL

And do not forget a short length of display track!

PS The trains I play with are mainly 12":1' scale.

I heard you all and really out of my model making addiction I got the tender started yesterday.
I took a day for the trucks and another for this.
Trying to match the sides of the train with the tender so dark half way up then a touch a maple, then walnut itty bitty stuff.

    Top work Bruce.

You are so quick - you will need to come up with a new build very shortly.

Ever thought of WW2 aircraft ? I have a suggestion if you have.

    Regards

    Keith

Great work. Are you going to fit a (water) filler lid?
Now you just need to marry the tender to the engine and you will be good to go.
