Long day in the coach from West London to Stanford, York & Leeds; the Monday morning traffic into London was horrific. The country side is so green even in what seems a dry spell. The old buildings are amazing especially in York. I saw a hardware store in Stanford that had been in the one family for over 80yrs and it was jam packed. Only saw one toy shop with nice wooden toys though say a bloke from a distance using a pedal powered scrollsaw, but sorry was running late for the bus so no photo of him. Met a wood worker from Florida on the tour, good chats. Foot and leg sore tonight so early to bed for another early start. Cheers crowie

Yes Nick, both Tracey & I would go back there as there was so much we could have stopped and spent time looking. Missed out on the National Railway Museum for lack of time. Cheers crowie

That is the problem when time is short so much you would like to see but not enough time. Hope you are both enjoying what you have managed to see and that you are being treated right by my country men.

    Home now,

Crowie are you going to be able to go and see the Aussie Test team play the English gentlemen in the cricket ?

The English should give us a run for our money

We fly to Helsinki the day the test starts. One of the Aussies on our tour has tickets to one of the test matches; he's on long service leave for 7 weeks. The tour guide recons the Aussies will win as his English team are not good.

Shame that you missed the Railway Museum as it is brilliant, but then I am rather partial to railways, particularly steam.
I hope that you had a chance to see the Jorvik Museum - the remains of a Viking settlement that was found when excavating for a new shopping centre.
It is said that you have not really been to York unless you are inside the City walls.

Yes Chesand, I too was disappointed but after an hours walking tour we looked around while heading to walked the wall and get some lunch. The time constrains make site seeing rushed.

    Default Scotland

Yesterday we travelled from Leeds to Edinburgh with failed a/con in the tour bus; not good on a summer UK heat wave. The green country side is amazing. Stopped in the village of Meltose for lunch & stretch the legs; too much sitting. Expect 25 in Edinburgh today. We went to a Scottish night last night which was great, even the hagus. Today is a walking tour around Edinburgh and the Royal Yacht. Maybe I see a few wooden toys on today's walk?? Hope you are warm wherever you are. Cheers crowie

    Crowie,

Sydney Swans beat Port Adelaide by 10 points. Hope you are enjoying your trip.

    Take Care
