    Default First Toys Post

    Hi everyone.
I have been a member for some time, so thought I had better contribute and post some of my latest work.

First one is a batch of Jeeps that I made last year. Plan for these was out of one of the Australian Woodworker magazine toy editions.
Lot of fun, from memory I did 5 in this batch. Made out of Pine, 19mm thick for most of it. I made the wheels out of thicker pine and used a jig on the disc sander.

Then I bought myself a Thicknesser.. wow.. this has opened up a whole new world.
I dusted off the ol' scroll saw and also bought a couple of plans from toymakingplans.com in the US.

Started off with a simple Noah's Ark.

Then discovered a timber shop here in Canberra that sells some great timbers (That I can put through the new thicknesser) and tried some more complex toys.
First one is this little truck and caravan made out of Pine and Tas Myrtle. Bought the wheels from a mob in the US. The Tasmanian Myrtle is such a nice timber to work with, planes and cuts so smoothly.

Then this one just recently made out of Pine and African Sapelle.

Hope you enjoy seeing these as much as I have enjoyed making them.

    Cheers
    Rod T

These are all great toys, why oh why have you not posted them earlier. They should be seen and played with.

Having a thicknesser opens up you toymaking and if it is the same there rough sawn timber is cheaper to buy than keep buying planed.

Good enough to be animated movie models.
