    Smile VW Bus Build

I've seen some VW bus builds here lately and have wanted to build one and just found some plans to build one.
These plans come from Dutchy [LJ's] out of Holland and the nice thing is you buy them and down load so you can get started right then and there.

So here's my take on it so far.

    Cool

    Got a little more done.
I super glued a handle on the back of the grill to band saw and sand it, this way it stays parallel with the table and I get a great cut and I don't have to worry about that as I sand the curves..

Got talking to Ducky anout motors and am thinking of adding a Chevy Corvair motor but then was thinking I've already got a motor, so what do you think.

If I did I'll bet it could do this, quite easily. LOL.

In my younger days when I was more into cars, hot rods, racing etc, I saw photos of a Combi that the front wheels were a lot higher than that, and from memory had a V8 running through a V drive to the rear axle. The motor was in the general area of a standard VW.
    Great work by the way.

I think you will need to move the motor back. Too centred to get the front wheels up.
Looks great. I have buckled in for the ride.

Looks like one of those rarer ute (or truck) bodies. Biggest problem the height of the deck compared with other utes. (At least in Australia.)

    Watching with interest.

I have seen a few. In 2014 one of the contractors doing a new build where I work had one in rough shape. Right hand drive though.

My mom told me when she was a kid they would go for a ride and had a game where they got points for the different colored horses they would see.
Well as our child grow up we did it with VW’s.
A VW Bug was called a Beaver = 5 points.
A VW Bus was called a Beaver Cleaver =10 points.
A VW dune buggy or a beatle striped down was a beaver streaker =35 points
    A VW karmann ghia =50
A VW Thing +50 [Thanks Clear-out I forgot that one for sure.]
Back in the day there were a lot a VW repair shops and you could get in a wreck trying to count the different Bugs while driving so =100 points for a Beaver Factory.
AND if you saw a VW PICKUP TRUCK you pretty well won the game cause you just didn’t see them.
So by building this truck I’ve pretty well won the game from now on. LOL
