Question How do you catch a cow?

With a cow catcher of course.

Need to start on the smaller stuff so the cow catcher was a fun choice.
The first one of these I tried to make I cut and glued up the parts but nothing was straight or in line with each other so I went back to my trusty way of cutting grooves in the base so all the parts would line up.
I use skill saw blades for my saw but the blade was way to thin so a stock blade again to thin but two matching skill saw blades worked just right for a quick dado cut..

You may notice that the board is longer than needed but by cutting the bottom and back as one the grooves will match up just right.

Hope you can find a use for this tip,

Good catch with the way you sorted this part out Looks good and the trim hides most of the slots.

Dalboy I got looking at the pictures and will be going back and sanding out the front trim and also sanding a little more of the catchers front to take out those grooves.
This is one of the reason I like to blog on my builds it forces me to go back and look at what I've done.
If I wasn't blogging I'd be on to the next step and miss some needed repairs.

    htl,

Great work and good tips - I reckon these types of jobs are the most enjoyable of any builds

Like the way you did the cow catcher.
    Will have to remember that.

I think this is part of the reason I tend to take photo's of the builds as many times I have taken them and when reviewing later spot something which in my eyes is not right. I also take them for other reasons as well. The build is great keep up the good work

You got that right plus I've already built one just a little bit different so can go back and see what I did different this time .
One other reasons I have so many posts is By blogging each work day I can go back and figure out how long it took to build something.
I do most of my blogging on Lumber Jocks but love keeping up to date here because there's some really great work going on and as my name HTL stands for Here To Learn, that's what I'm here for.
