    Default Beds to small

    G'day Woodies,
I was looking around on the net for a simple king single bed design for my overstretched 11 year old. I stumbled on this site and thought what better than to join up and see if anyone can point me in the right direction. I've got a shed full of tools and a head full of half plans but this place seems like a great starting point for an amateur woody like myself!

Welcome aboard. You should get plenty of advice about beds on the forum. some of the guys have made some real beauties.
    Reality is no background music.

Welcome to the forum. I have not made a bed myself and you could post in General subsection for a start.

    g'day Rileysam,
my feet started to hang off the end of a single bed as a teenager. my solution was to build a bench (length = bed width, height = bed base height, width about 300 mm or so) and put it at the foot of the bed. i then pushed the mattress down over the bench and packed up under the pillow with a block of foam. with the top end of the mattress in the non contact area between shoulder and head, the set up just felt like a normal bed.
these days, i just manage to fit for length on a queen size. if you have the space to spare in his bed room, i'd just go for a queen bed - he'll love the extra room and it will probably be easier to get linen.
