    Default G'day from Country NSW

    Hi all,
I'm Rob from northern NSW. I've only caught the woodworking bug over the past few years and now it's slowly taking over my life!!
I have limited skills but plenty of motivation. At the moment I make more sawdust and scrap wood than useful projects but I'm getting better.
i started my journey like plenty of others by building a work bench. Mine was inspired by Paul Sellers. It turned out okay, but I made it with 4x2 cypress bought from Bunnings. The timber was alive one day and on the shelf at Bunno's the next. So, you guessed it, I'm getting a valuable lesson in splitting, checking and bowing!!
Hoping to learn more useful skills and hoping I'll get some useful tips from these forums.
    Cheers,
    Fangio.

    Default A bit hot

Welcome to the forum Fangio / Rob. I reckon it would have been a bit warm in your part of the world in the last few days, not ideal conditions for playing in the shed.

Have a good look around these pages, and use the search facility in the top right, you will find heaps of info on just about any subject, and a special look at the workbench system.

    Stay cool,

    Alan...

Thanks Al, it's still a little steamy here. About 36 degrees today. I've found a thread on fitting a vise to my bench but can't access the photos. I've sent a photo request via the emoji so I'll check if I can see them today.
    Thanks for the welcome,
    regards,
    Rob.

Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.

    PS -
    Love you new bench!!
Keep an eye out for a get together at Katoomba for the Sydney area forum members, if you ever get down that way....great way to met & make friends.
