    Default G'day from Mandurah WA

Newbie, looking for some help in sourcing suitable timber in caravan floor repair I am working on.

Retired with not a lot of time on my hands - garden, grandkids, etc.

Floor in the front of my UK sourced caravan had broken along the body line - screws rusted through and a little bit of water affected timber.

Project is to rebuild the box section floor in situ and I have found suitable plywood but struggling to find other than heavy hardwood or pine(sigh) of suitable size to complete the box and reinforcing.

I am looking for something light and strong in the order of western red cedar, birch, spruce, et al to make the surround to the floor box. Bottom face of box will be 4mm and top 9mm which means I need to find timber that can be dressed down to 26mm for the box sides and cross-box stringers. I am allowing a total of 1mm for glue top and bottom of timbers.

Once the box is constructed in place my plan is to fill the voids with expanding foam.

Any suggestions as to where I can source timber would be gratefully received.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Ken",
There are a lot of members in Perth & across W.A. plus the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork.
    Cheers crowie

PS - May I suggest you add a new thread to address the timber question in "general" or "timber" to gain a wider audience and thus more answers...
