    Default Hello from Adelaide!

    Hi all,

I'm a very new turner from Adelaide, I bought a GMC lathe a few weeks ago to see if I would enjoy it and I really do!

My problem is that now I've got the GMC, I want to upgrade to something a bit more versatile. I originally purchased it to make some handles for various tools, now I'm looking at turning some bowls/goblets/pens. However I am unable to as it doesn't look like the driving centre is interchangeable so I'm looking for something with the ability to swap out the driving centre and spindle.

If anyone has any suggestions that'd be great. I want to keep costs down as much as possible as I don't intend to attempt to make a living out of this kind of thing, however once I get better I might look into a stool on the local markets. Absolute maximum I'm willing to spend in the coming months is about $1000.

Welcome to the forum, could you PM me your email address please. I might have a few contacts for you.
I started off with one of those also, my next lathe cost me about 12 times what I paid for the GMC. But I did get a few extras with it though.
    Regards
    Kryn
