Thread: Hello - Just starting out

Hi there,

Thought I'd take a few minutes and introduce myself.. my name is Dave, and I've been interested in woodworking for a while, but am only just starting to actually do anything, as I finally have settled down and have a garage of my own with some decent space - and a house to hold projects

I grew up helping out my Dad, and mucking around with his tools, and every now and again his lathe, and learnt pretty much everything from him - which is amateur knowledge to say the best - but we make up for it in determination! Measure once, cut twice, and then just give up and use the crooked bit anyway

So far I've put a gate on our back deck (part of a dog-proofing effort) and I've just yesterday started building a dog kennel. So far I've got the main part done, just need to make a roof now.. once I work out the framing, and get the guts to attack the angled cuts.

Anyway, hopefully i'll come up with some more projects over time, and get some decent tools and equipment. At the moment I have an eclectic mix of hand-me-downs and cheap stuff from Bunnings.. enough to do pretty much anything I need, but I think I'm going for quality now. Just need the budget!
