    Default Hi from Mornington Peninsula

Hi, I'm new. Still a woodworking beginner, but would love to join in on any classes on the Mornington Peninsula (south of Melbourne) if anyone knows of any.

Hi Jenbren, welcome aboard. someone will know of something. If not try to find a mens shed in your local area. most of them have woodworking equipment and are great way of learning and meeting other woodworkers. There are also other woodworking clubs around that you may join. Google is your friend, try to find a club near your location. Good luck.

Thanks for that. I tried Googling classes down this way, but nothing came up, so will just search for woodworking clubs instead. I'm not sure if the men's sheds would be too happy about women coming along - thought it might defeat the purpose a bit!

Must aren't averse to having women around. As long as you don't start wanting to put curtains up. You'll need to gauge the situation a bit I guess.

(We have had a discussion on another thread about whether women should be in Men's sheds. I have found it fine. But I think it depends. I go to knox woodworkers workshop, which I think is not exclusively calling itself a "men's shed" as it does lots of different activities and work for the community too! Maybe its big enough for a woman to not make much differance. They were always very welcoming. ) (One of the "teachers" travels up from Dromana. Distances are shrinking with that freeway there now! )

good to know, I'll give the local one a try. Many thanks for that input. I prefer wooden venetians to curtains anyway, so should be fine!

As TL mentioned above, this was discussed at some length in another thread but I know there are many clubs that are open to both men and women alike. I believe some men sheds do welcome ladies to take part. so guess its just a matter of checking them out. Good luck.
