    Default Newbie intro.

Hi, I'm Ken from Bordertown South Australia. I joined this group after browsing around your site and enjoying what I saw. I retired 3 years ago and joined our local Men's Shed.
Our particular shed caters for people with many varied interests but does have a quite few members who are very much into woodworking.
I had not done any sort of wood work since leaving school 54 years ago. I was completely at a loss as to what to do with myself since retiring and not really enjoying my retirement much at all.

Fortunately for me a couple of members decided they would show me "the ropes' so to speak.

I soon realised that I loved working with wood. While I am not into anything really intricate; thanks to a couple of gents who did not mind sharing and showing their skills to a "newbie" I have found a new passion in life.

I know I will get a lot from this forum. While I am not one to contribute on a regular basis I will be here and watching, reading and learning.

    Thanks for accepting me, Ken

Hi Ken, welcome to a Top Forum, we're never too old to learn something, so enjoy the forum. There's a Get Together at Horsham on the Australia Day Weekend, Dave always puts up notification of it months in advance. A good way to meet other Forumites and learn something as well. I'll be there, if you want/need a ride?

Hi Ken, welcome to the forum, I know what you mean with keeping occupied in retirement. Woodworking is a great way of keeping the mind and body active, and the best part is that you do not have to be an expert, as long as you enjoy it.

    Regards
    Keith

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Ken".
There are a stack members across the Adelaide area, quite a few in country Sth Aust plus lots more across the rest of the country & the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork......
    Cheers crowie
