2nd Woodpeckers Limited Edition (short run) products
Hi
The response to Woodpeckers first LE products was fantastic in fact as of now there are only 2 x 150mm versions and 3 x 75mm versions of the Mini T Squares available.
The second LE batch of products will be 2 versions of the saddle square
Ok, so we didn’t invent saddle squares. But I think we have taken it to a new level of accuracy. Instead of chopping an extrusion to length, we instead presisely machined these from a billet of aircraft grade aluminum. That is by far the most accurate way to make anything.
What makes a saddle square different from any other square? A saddle square makes it easy to mark on perpendicular sides of a board, accurately. Let’s say you need to transfer a mark from one side of a board to the other, with our saddle square you first mark the top, then without moving it mark the front. Now flip the board over, align the short leg with the mark on the back edge and strike a mark on the face. Do it once any you’ll be hooked.
The second is the perfect tool for marking a 45 degree mitre before you make the cut and for that matter checking the cut afterward. What makes a saddle square different from any other marking square is that it wraps around the edge of the board. This makes it possible to mark the angle AND the front edge. Think how much easier it is to check a mitre cut if you have a vertical reference. If you’ve cut even just a few mitres, you most likely have noticed that the miter angle might be good but the cut isn’t perpendicular to the face. That’s a sure fire way to make a joint that’s open on one side.
See the Saddle Square 90 degree and the Saddle Square 45 degree on our website.
These will be available for delivery by late January 2011 but like their T Square counterparts quantities will be strictly limited with little prospect of these being rerun within 12 months if in fact ever.

Grahame

Grahame, will you be making a bulk purchase. As I looked to purchase these direct but Woodpeckers wanted $77 US for postage thru UPS. The Items were only going to cost me $69US, so I changed my mind on that incidental purchase.

Yes....
Hi Pat
Yes, we have an allocation of these from Woodpeckers as they are a strictly limited production run. To be fair on all our customers we've set up our website so that as orders for all Limited Edition products are placed, the numbers available are reduced until when we hit zero, the 'BUY' button is disabled.
We integrate our orders so that we get the best possible freight rates whilst still being a speedy service.
The really cool part is that Metric versions will almost all come to us.

Honing system?
Hi Grahame,
Just wondering if you are also planning to get the new honing system that Woodpeckers is advertising via email?
Cheers,
Ben

Sure will....
Hi
I'd expect that we'll see these mid-January, I'll put them up so you can pre-order. Look under new products in a few days.
