Add a little Iron to wood
Just a quick little project I had to finish. I had cut and dressed the small Tallowwood slab a month or two back for a friend and had to put some steel legs on it. Today was the day, didn't want to make too much noise for the shed neighbours ( I need to do some thicknessing) so I opted to finish this one. One more little job out of the way before Chrisy.
My friend wanted large flat bar legs so I got some 75 x 8 (nice and sturdy) poped it in the vice a little warmth from the oxy and away we go. The shot top tabs needed a little leverage so I got out the little shifter. Blew a few screw holes in the tabs, a tidy up with the grinder, whack in the screws and we're almost done. A little drizzle of Danish and done. She wants the steel to go rusty so that part is easy. Done

Hi Ray, very hand thing to have, there is always something that needs repairing, altering or something new to make. I only keep a small set of bottles on hand. Unless I have a big project a set of D's last me all year.

Hi Christos, Oxy, Electric or both? Both have many different and helpful uses. I love doing a bit of metalwork as well as the woodwork and combining both is great fun. I have an up and coming project over Christmas that will combine both. Stay tuned, same time, same bat chanel.

Don't you just love the silky, sensuous feel of finished Tallowood? Beautiful timber!
Nice job, as usual, Claw.

I love using Tallowwood, like you say it feels soft and smooth and the tools just love it. That natural lubricant in great, Hmm what happens if you boil it up could we get some out I wonder?? (One day when I have nothing to do)

The course covered Safety, Oxy, Stick and Mig. Just a basic course so that I could get my head around welding. Would love to get back into this but not at my house. Way too much of a risk, being a tiny block and mulch in the gardens. I have a friend that also did the course with me and he is happy to have this at his house.

Yeh, I always sweep up before I start cutting and welding, swadust and shavings mix a little too well with red hot molten metal
