Wink Bookshelf / sculpture stand , with a Gothic twist

Latest piece of furniture - it was designed to serve as a bookshelf ( lower shelf) , and a base for a sculpture (top). Could do for a TV stand as well , as a friend of mine pointed. Made of Oak , passing trough tenons, and I couldn't resist to try finishing the tenons in Kintaro Yazawa-stile .

No sand paper was used on this projeckt , the finish is straught from the tool , which made for some charming and genuine- looking tearouts here and there , that only add to the medieval look of it - and so does the dust!

Reminds me of the pews they used to inflict horrible torments upon us kids in my old Fellowship Hall days...

Beautiful workmanship, yet I can't help but cringe inside at first glance...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

I guess that took at least two weekends to make?

I like the design, & the carving is about 1000% ahead of anything I could contemplate trying!

    Cheers,

Fantastic work. Having recently taken up carving, I can appreciate the effort put into it. Keep it up.
