    Default Built-in desk wip

Rather uninspiring little project to bore you with. This are the bits n pieces for a built-in desk commission up in Townsville. It is in Jarrah. The desk will run along the entire wall of a study and be mounted on a couple of steel filing cabinets and ledgers on the wall. The filing cabinets will be fitted with frame and panel Jarrah trim to match them in. The plan is to finish everything here, ship it up then fly up to do the install before Christmas.
    Attachment 153988
6mm bookmatched panels for the filing cabinets just out of clamps and ready for sanding
    Attachment 153989
The desktop after dressing in the drum sander and ready for... more sanding. Will also fit an apron, perhaps with dentil moulding.

Bunch of smaller sticks for frames ready to dress to final dimensions tomorrow.

    Cheers
    Michael

Sounds like an interesting project. Looking forward to seeing it installed.

Wow, thanks for the interest, I wish there were photos today that showed a noticeable change from the last lot, but really, sanding shows up pretty poorly in photos! Anyway the joiner/thicknesser has been running busily and all the frame sticks are dressed to size, the desktop is trimmed to slightly oversize and all the surface imperfections filled with black-tinted epoxy. The ROS has been busy too and all the panels and desk are down to 240 and ready for the first coats of finish. I didn't sand the bottom of the desk with the ROS - although it has been sanded down to 120 on the drum sander.

    Cheers

I'm way up the back with Dazza, you can barely see us so just pretend we're not here. If you are getting stage fright just picture us in our underwear....on second thoughts don't do that
The one with blades is a thininer.
