    Default Children's Table

When we were last in Queensland visiting the daughter and s-i-l I got an order for a table for the grandson's. This led to a bit of puzzling as to how I could build something that I could get to them at reasonable cost. Inspiration came with this thread by Derek Cohen - Coffee table - where he was facing exactly the same problem as me. Thanks Derek, hope you don't mind me infringing your IP?

Nice job. What timber did you use?

The top is made of floorboard offcuts, Sydney Blue Gum and an indeterminate hardwood species. The base components came from bed base slats and are one of the species broadly described as Alpine Ash. The design doesn't have the inherent strength of a conventional base, but I'm hoping it'll stand up alright, the boy's aren't too boisterous.
