    Hi Mat,
If you want to apply your finish before you put it together, this is probably irrelevant. I'll try to attach a diagram anyway, as it may help someone else in the future.

Don't you hate it when that happens - the second reply will never be as good!
Anyway, yeah I follow. May be an idea. Hey but in meantime there's no link to the "zip bolt" to which you refer....

Sorry, here's the link. Zipbolt Never used one. But seem like a good idea.

I can clamp either in-situ or on floor then lift into place. The end is deliberately left long until we know our join will work, so we will maybe cut dominos, do a trial run, undo (?might be hard if tight dominos), glue, then (how to? clamp). As you can see, it's hard to find a way to clamp in the centre (each side easy with an angle clamp).
Maybe we do in-situ and just weigh the top down? It won't slide due to dominos?
Try a few cam fixings like these? Meant for T or L joins on flat surfaces, but could work on a mitre especially of the wood is thick. Apply a little clear silicone to the mitre surface and twist the cams tight, clean up the excess silicone and you will get a gapless join. If you place the cams on the underside of the bench top, the fixings will be totally invisible. The panels will need to be joined to the cupboard with screws from the inside... once that happens the mitre joint will not be under a great deal of stress.
