Default More Commissions - Dining table

    Hi Guys and Girls
The first photo is of one load of timber I picked up from Mal at the Newcsatle Woodshow, this load has some Red Mahogany for the first table along with a few slabs and boards Mal didn't seem to want to take home. The first load was only a roofrack load, no trailer. Amongst the haul was a couple of boards of Huon Pine, a few Aust Red Cedar boards, River Oak boards, a Hoop Pine slab, a Himalaya Cedar slab, large Red Mahogany slab 3m x 650ish x 50mm, a Red Gum burl as well as timber for another table I will start soon, it has about 14 diferent timbers in it. ( I will show that one to once I get to it). Second shot is just cutting up, third is thicknessed ready to go and the last is a test clamp and fine tune jointing with the Millers Falls 22C (Eqiv Stanley No8 corrigated) . The table has 3 Red Hog sections consisting of 2 boards each with a Blackbutt strip between each Red Hog section. It has turned out a whisker under size (bugqer) so will recut the two Blackbutt strips tomorrow.

Hi Waldo, I'm glad I can give you something to watch I have been doing some rather dull shop fitout work but back into the goodstuff again plus a few bowls, I will post those tomorrow maybe. Will also be trying to get more into the art side of things getting ready for a show in April and another in Sept. I will need to get the creative juices flowing, or maybe a few good ports perhaps while I do the designs.

Watching makes up for the days when things don't go to plan and shed time loses out to other things.

    Whatever gets the juices going.

Yep,Mal has lots of good stuff, now the alchemy begins, the magic of turning it into money. Thats the fun part, 2 pinches of sweet, 1 bag of sawdust, many hours of time, mixe liberaly with music and a litre or two of tea,, bingo

Ok, bit slow today, I recut two new Blackbutt strips 5mm wider to bring the table to it's full 1m width, these were cut from some slab offcuts and ticknessed to suit, fitted and then I glued the whole thing together. All went smoothly after a dry run with all clamps and braceing in position and ready to go. Go hell for leather and get the glue on then crank her all up tight as a bug in a rug. Glue is AVXL Plus (which is now put out by Bostic)
Then had a scrapy little job to squeeze in taking 40mm out of a kitchen mm~ md~ mdf cupboard for a neighbour, Yuk anyway it was the neighbourly thing to do.
So here is the shot of the bug in the rug and a few shots of the bowls I have been doing, one Camphor from a piece of scrap, one Tassie Blackwood, scrap also and one from a Coolabah Burl with a natural edge.
