Contemporary Dining Table WIP
Hi Guys,
Have had this design floating around for a while now and we have started to put it into practice.
The first concept is made from WA Sheoak, it`s going to be a 1.5m square table, the base is a trapezoid design, nothing out of the ordinary there.
But we have decided to go with something different for the centre section, will post more pics as we progress.
I`ll also be updating this on our blog also if anyone is interested.
Floating Edge Design
Any feedback or ideas greatly appreciated
cheers
Brad

Brad, I think it looks great. A very interesting design. You could elongate the trapezoid base for a rectangular table.
I could almost guarantee my 3 yr old daughter would spend half her day camped in that perfect little cubby house under the table. Those were the droids I was looking for.

I really like your table. It looks like a very easy thing to live with and look at every day.
I wouldn't mind about 10mm of daylight under the bottom rails.Last edited by Ball Peen; 2nd April 2012 at 07:03 PM. Reason: add. comment

Thanks for the feedback fella`s
I think having a 10mm shadow line underneath the base is a great idea, we are currently working on figuring out a way to run battery operated led`s inside the box once it`s complete.
Getting there though, and hoping to have it all nutted out soon
The sheoak top is coming along nicely, will have pics of that soon.

As the rest have said it looks good. If there are a few extra people around it nobody has a leg in the way either.

Hi Guys,
Well we have finally completed this design,
We have used laser cut 316 grade stainless panels on this design, mounted 20mm proud of the frame via allen key fasteners and spacers/threaded inserts, internally we have used 6mm frosted acrylic to diffuse the light.
It`s powered via a battery pack that can also be plugged into 240v power, were still finishing it off with a custom made she oak battery box and remote control to turn the lights on and off, change light colours and patterns.
We also have a similar design in jarrah featuring a round top, will post photo`s of that when complete also.
Here`s a couple of photo`s and a video,

Has it really taken this long to make or have other projects come and gone?

Hi Christos
We have had quite a bit on the go, just had to put this one on hold till we found some spare time.
I`m still struggling to photograph it as it appears in person, the legs look slightly slimmer than the pics indicate, might try a few different camera angles.
cheers

I was quite impressed with the bare leg version but this has ramped it up a bit. Well done!
