Craft Table
I'm building a craft table for my wife consisting of two 900x900x300 shelf units (3x3 cubes) supporting a 1000x1500x25-33mm timber table top.
In between the outfacing shelf units, on the underside of the table top, I planned to build a "hidden" drawer on both sides for some storage.
The shelves and drawers will be knocked up out of 16mm MDF. The shelf units will have 6mm MDF backs.
I want to be able to remove the table top (and attached drawer frames) for moving in the future. Here come my question:
Should I use cam locks or what other system for attaching the table top to the shelf units?
I have a Google Sketch file I can upload with the design if that helps.
Thanks in advance for the tips.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark
will the grain in the top run side-to-side or front to back?
side-to-side (i.e. in the direction of the 1500 dimension) would be normal, in which case the top could be connected by screws into the underside of the top through the MDF shelving units. elongate the holes in the MDF and back up the screw heads with a washerregards from Alberta, Canada

the grain will be along the long (1500) dimension. I am wanting to be able to assemble and disassemble so something using bolts or cams?

Screws into the top from within the MDF shelf units will be fine. Drill a normal clearance hole for the "front" screws and elongate the holes (i.e. make the hole more like a slot) for the "back" screws. Use a washer under the head of the back screws.
If you don't want to drill through the MDF units, attach a battern to the back or each shelf unit and screw the top onto that.
for the hidden drawer remember to slot the holes holding the drawer frame to the top.regards from Alberta, Canada
