    Default Dog jump construction

    Hey all,

I have been asked to look into making a dog jump for a local show and wondered if anyone has any idea on the construction? This jump is like a jump stop where the dog just has to get up onto the jump rather than where the dog jumps over the jump like in a obstacle course. Can work it out but thought maybe someone had any tips.

    Cheers

The dog jump championships are contested at our local show every year.
They have two pieces of 'C' channel, facing each other, attached to the side of a ute. Wooden planks are slotted into the channels and the dogs have to jump over the constructed wall onto the ute tray. The tray is loaded with hay bales and built up to suit the growing height of the wall. It works well but some of the dogs can clear well over 2m so the 'C' channels are extendable. I think they are just clamped onto the tray of the ute.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

    Thanks for the reply.

The construction I am thinking of would be free standing in case there is no ute available but has the same C channel posts which planks can be slotted into for height.

Didn't realise dogs could jump over 2 m as only wanted to make the thing 2.4 m high for practical reasons.

Easily changeable if issues arise but might check a few things before committing.

Dog jump constructed and tested and it works well. Putting a bit of carpet over the top plank so dogs can 'scramble' their way over the top. If anyone needs to make one in future, I can now help with that one!

The dog jump was a complete success! Refined the design a little bit but it was so popular, other shows want the design. (Funny as it wasn't that hard to figure out).

Thanks for showing us the successful result, so many come looking for advice and don't give any follow up, and we never know if they gave up, tried and failed or had a success.
