    Default Double-sided TV unit/bookshelf

One of my recent projects at work. All in solid American Oak, except for the backs and door panels which are veneer.

Design brief on the left, then into AutoCAD on the right for the CNC

TV and AV gear goes on this side. The hole in the back is for cable management...

...goes down to a channel on the underside and through a false back...

...to the area behind the doors for completely invisible cable routing. This is what happens when engineers design furniture.

Nice work, elan. Is the top to be cantilevered over one side like in the pic, or is that just temporary?? Looks odd when just sitting on its own or in the drawing, I'd be wanting to 'straighten it up' every time I walked past....

It's not temporary, that's how he wanted it

Slap the engineer hard! Real hard.

It's ok, if he/she has any real experience they will expect it. "You might well be an engineer, but you are certainly not a designer".

Well, he who pays the piper calls the tune! The main thing is to do the job honestly & to the best of your ability, I suppose. I've made more than one piece that I didn't like at all 'to order', but I made them to the best of my ability, nevertheless. As I said, the design looks odd to me in isolation, but I wouldn't be too critical without seeing it in its intended position, & with the other furniture in the room. It may well look fine jolly splendid, once it's at home......

    Cheers,
