The spacers can cause a problem at the coped joints. If you put a dab of glue in the centre of the groove in the top and bottom rail this will hold the panel and still allow expansion and contraction in the width of the door. The timber will not require clearance top and bottom as there is minimal dimensional change in the length, it's all in the width.

Hello Ian just using a raised panel router set which makes it possible for mugs like me to make a few things. The way I'm going it might take me 20 years to finish. Always something else getting in the way. Will keep posting if I live that long.

If the spacers are flexible (eg. rubber), instead of glue the spacers can be placed at the 1/4 & 3/4 marks of the top and bottom rails. Or thereabouts. This serves the same function and keeps the panel square to the frame in case of less than ideal fit.

With this grain orientation I'd avoid placing them in the stiles for the above-mentioned movement reasons.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Just using a raised panel router set Ian. Mugs like me are then capable of some construction. Thanks for your posts Rob and Franklin hope mine last a while at least.
    Thanks Wayne
Oops didn't realise we had gone to a second page hence a similar theme. That's why I'm a novice.

    Hi Folks
Finally got these fronts screwed to their drawers. Only two more sets to go. Hope to get them by winters end.
