    Default Euro hinge question

I’ve just finished a tall bookcase/cabinet for my kids wardrobe that the wardrobe mobs wanted a fortune for, I have a question about hinges. (This is my first cup hinge application, please be gentle with my lack of understanding!)

Ive hung two doors on the base with inset cabinet hinges. I wanted Blum hinges but my local green shed didn’t have inset hinges in stock so I had to go with their hafele inset hinge. Installation was fine however I notice the inset type hinge has a large bend where it attaches to the door (to allow for the inset pivot) which is all fine but it is a little bulky. It got me thinking that both my kitchen and laundry are all inset doors yet have Blum hinges without this bend In them (look like overlay hinges to me)
The correct Blum inset hinge I wanted appears the same as the ones I’ve fitted, yet no other inset hinge in my house is cranked the same way as the inset ones I’ve purchased. I’ve then started to wonder, can you fit a full overlay hinge to an inset application? The door on both stays in the same spot. What am I missing?

Sorry about the pic, I can’t seem to rotate it correctly.

You can use an overlay hinge for inset, but you have to pack the hinge plate out by the thickness of the carcase side.

Inset hinges are ALL cranked, they won't work otherwise. I'll bet your kitchen and laundry hinges are overlay, not inset. Can you put up a pic of them?
