Default Extendable table design thoughts - single end extension, moving legs

Ive been considering building our new dining table for a while, and settled on this sort of style:

But recently i briefly saw an extendable table at some shop (cant remember the shop) that had one end of the table, including legs move on recessed castors with the other end fixed in place (presumably rubber feet). The butterfly leaves folded out from the middle as per usual. This is nice because it means that the big square legs are still visible at all times, rather than being tucked under the table when extended.

Im considering doing the same thing, but wondering about the load on the runners/slides, as the table will want to bow around the runners making a pivot point. To get around this i was considering some long heavy duty drawer slides between the fixed and free ends (think fridge or ute tray slides).

Any thoughts or ideas on how this would work?

But they are double sided only, rather than single sided. Drawer slides will work better for a single sided slide.

Häfele sell extra heavy duty runners that we use at work for extension tables, over 200kg load rating. They're not cheap though

So i was watching a few random videos on Youtube, and saw this table in the background of a table advertisement:

seems from the second image that it is just a simple slider on parallel rails, which should make it dead simple to do.

Or is there more to it than that?

Rockler have a few extension table mechanisms to give you some ideas. I've seen them made from scratch like a pair of giant sliding dovetails. Look at canadian woodworks instagram for their rendition. (Picture from their instagram)

    Cheers.

Put the call out on Facebook, and one of my friends has a table of a similar design, and took some photos for me.

Looks like they have just made a box casing for the leaf to sit in, and put that on long sliding runners.
