Future Baby Cot
Hi guys, how is everyone going?
I plan on making a baby cot sometime soon for my brother and was wondering if we could collect some images of baby cots made by the people on this forum? I have searched and read through very old threads however images are long gone and there doesn't seem to be recent threads up to date with Australian Standard.
Some things I'd like to specifically know in researching this build is:
1. Where are some good places to find cot parts such as sliders, bolt systems, latches, etc.
2. What is the most preferred method of latching and sliding the front panel up and down?
3. What are some important considerations I would probably overlook?
4. Any other suggestions or friendly advice,.
Thank you all kindly!
Josh

Hi Josh
get the mattress and bedding BEFORE you start building the cot. That way the cot you build will fit the bedding.
brush up on your design / drawing skills so that you can create a drawing of what you want to build, including details of the joints you will be using.
Look at your current collection of tools and assess where there are gaps between what you can accomplish now -- in terms of dimensioning and joint making -- and what you will need to do for the cot.
Practice the skills you will need to build the cot now while you are not under the pressure of a deadline.regards from Alberta, Canada

Thank you Ian for your response! They are definitely some good plans to do before finding out halfway through that I’ve hit a wall. I’ve been drawing different designs for the last few days, I want it right before I put a single cut in timber. I will probably make a Cad assembly beforehand too!
