Default HELP Floating Desk with waterfall end .... How to Best Attatch End

The commission was for a floating desk (2300 X 585) attached to 2 walls with French Cleats and the free end to have to be supported by a set of file drawers. The top is 35mm Tas Oak.

Client changes mind .... drawer unit to be free standing. The free end to be supported by a wooden wall (585 X 35 X 715) and going to the floor ... desk top height is 750.

There is to be no triangular bracing in the front or sides ... but can be at the back as long as it does not exceed 300 in hypotenuse.

I planned to rebate the end wall into the table top by 20mm ... but the client wants only a 7mm setback for the end from the end of the desk top. So I don’t know that the 7mm sidewall will stand any racking movement.

I had thought of rebating some stainless steel right angles into the underside of the top and inner wall of the end. About 3 of them 200 X 200.

Remember that this has to be shipped as separate pieces and assembled on site.

Any clever suggestions on what might work . please?

    Thanks

    Rob

Because the desk top will be fixed to two walls, you don't really need to worry about racking movement up top. You only need to stop the waterfall end from being kicked side to side. I'd screw the waterfall end to the wall as well.

Thanks Kuffy ... seems to be the answer alright .... I could attach a batton down the wall then pocket hole screw the side to it.

You are a genius .. simple but effective
