Default Ideas / Plans for simple (cabin-style) sofa

I have searched high and low and I have not found any relatively simple sofa plans.
I'm looking to build a sofa / couch of some kind for my cabin. I would use basic cabin grade (#3) knotty pine. The only plans I've found online are for sofa/futons but I'm not looking for a futon and don't need the complexity of the roller mechanism.

Anybody know of a simple sofa plan? (something plain and simple)

    Thanks

Thank you. I'm looking for a very simple looking (and easy to assemble) 2x4, 1x4 -style couch for the cabin. The second link (armchair) is probably the closest starting point I've had to date so thanks.

Its funny, i've see a bunch of books and plans for "2x4" simple furniture but nothing for a couch...

What sort of joinery do you want to use?

I haven't really tackled mortise and tenon joinery yet but I would assume I would need to use mortise and tenons for a few of the critical joints and screws for the rest.

I currently have a pine log sofa that we purchased and the only reason I won't try to make one of those is I blew my budget buying power tools and can't afford a log tenon cutter (I want the Logman for my router).

Ideally I'd find a simple design that incorporates pine 4x4's, 2x4's, etc...

I have a futon lounge at home which is basically just made of 2x4 and 2x6. Its a very basic design that i don't think would be too difficult to make. It uses mortise and tenon joints mostly, but you could really just use screws and conceal them with some sort of coloured putty/wax or something, as you want the 'country' feel to it anyway so it doesn't have to be fine joinery as such. Sounds like you more want something to use now rather than it being a project that you want to do perfectly?

I don't think its particularly a 'country' style, but it is definately what you'd call 2x4 furniture done well. If nothing else it should give you some ideas. And you could quite easily just make it a fixed couch rather than a futon. I will try to take some photos for you this weekend unless you say not to before then - it is buried under horse rugs and wood at the moment, but we need to clean the balcony anyway.

Yes, the idea is it would be fairly quick. I would love to see pictures of your futon lounge it sounds like it may be a fit.

    Thanks

As promised, photos of the 2x4 futon. Sorry about the terrible quality of the photos... crappy camera and had to 'compress' the images which makes them even worse.

The futon was in much better condition when we first got it - there are marks and scratches all over now. Although, i did quite like it for what it is when it was in its original condition.

Hope it give you some ideas.

    Cheers
    Ryan
