    Default ironbark table top

This is a project for my daughter. She wanted a small dining table with live edges, the legs will be those steel things that are apparently all the rage at the moment.
I had an ironbark cut down some years ago and milled and the outer planks are roundbacks from that exercise, the middle plank is from the centre of the log.. These boards are HEAVY! It took the two of us to manipulate them through the planer and there we learnt how HARD they are too. Nevertheless, this is the finished table top, the planks are joined with splines and the finish is some tung oil poly floor finish that I diluted with turps and used as a wipe-on.
I did breadboard ends because they give a nicer finish than end grain and will hopefully help to keep it all square. I like to use the 3-piece approach to breadboards and I think it is a better approach in material this hard.
    She likes it.

I can appreciate the work gone into that. It is very hard timber. I have only ever made small items with it for that reason. It does polish up well and is a handsome looking wood.
