Great job, Rod, very classy looking setting, must be very satisfying after having that jarrah lying around for so long.

That's a great result. You must be very pleased and SWMBO as well .The chairs look as though they were made to match the table.

Now a dumb question, what's this tool used for? I can see the cutting edges but can't work out which way it would go or how you'd use it?
    So many ideas........so little skill........

It is used to cut a slot or groove , either continuous or short to suit biscuits.

As per what Peter36 has said. Here's a picture of a different job and if you look at the ends you'll see grooves into the jarrah timber which run the full lenght of each piece. This type of joint is called a feather joint. The reason you don't seen the joint on the very first picture at the start of the post is cause I stopped the groove a 100mm back from where the finished end of the top.

I'm back. To match the dining table I made couple of cabinets being a buffet and a TV cabinet. Again both are solid Jarrah tops, door/drawer fronts, cabinet end panels and kick boards.

The buffet (with drawers) is 2.4m long and the TV cabinet is 3m long. This should keep the higher authority quiet for awhile (I hope) cause the next major item I want to build is a multi purpose Bush Camper van.
