Default A largeish outdoor furniture project for a newbie - timber advice sought

Hi all,

I'm a new guy around here (see http://woodworkforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=95934) and am about to embark on a bit of a building frenzy to make the attached outdoor setting.

So far I've had some good input from another member (cheers Juffy) who will note I've included his suggestions in the revised pics as attached. Note that I've only included 1 of each seat - there will be 2 (fingers crossed while I still have some!).

I'm a bit new to all of this and have found Sketchup so thought I'd challenge myself with a project to build this setting almost exclusively out of 70x19 timber - possibly WRC or Red Ironbark to suit our house. Sourcing this timber is the current challenge and so hopefully I'll have some luck on a ring-around today.

I've quite possibly over-engineered this to Bvlgari but one day we'll have kids and if they're like their mum... well, hopefully this will stand up to their treatment better than I've stood up to hers... (only kidding darling, honest... ouch!). Hehe

So any thoughts would be gratefully received (such as "perhaps you should stick to quilting", or "have a few less bottles of red before you do your planning in the future"...).

I look forward to a long and happy association with you folk as I cheerfully bang, mash and bludgeon my way through many projects around our house!

Cheers,
David
