O1 and most other high carbon steels in small sizes seem to be hard to get lately for some reason. Gameco/Artisan Supplies is pretty much out of anything useable on a small scale.
Try here: Great deals from Maker Material Supply in Blade-Steel- | eBay Stores
I have used them before. Postage is not too bad and they are very helpful with how much to order to maximise your postage dollar..
My latest order was four pieces of 1/8" x 2" x 12" O1 steel and was about AU$70 posted.
They usually recommend O1 for travisher blades as it can be cold bent in its annealed state. Not sure if you can do that to the same degree with 1075 or 1084. If you have a forge and anvil then you could use the 10-series steels and shape them hot. Whichever steel you use, you still need to harden and temper the blade once it is shaped.I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Pedro, these people have short lengths of gauge plate (made in the UK) in various thicknesses. It's O1 (oil-hardening) steel that comes dead soft & easy to work. You will need a decent heat source to get a travisher blade sized piece sufficiently hot to harden - a regular propane torch won't cut it. A 500mm length of 3 x 75mm was about $40 (+/-) last time I bought some. There are quite a few travisher blades in a piece that size, so if you're wondering what to do with the rest of it, it peens well in its soft state & is good material for making metal plane sides from! Thanks everyone, Ian I can't see a link or name in your post. I have an ebay quote request out now. Its always worth buying a bit more I find. On heating the steel I am going to attempt the weber charcoal starter tube full of red hot heat beads. Propane torch underneath adds a bit of zing. Wish me luck.

Pedro, Artisan is the company from whom I purchased. They do look out of stock on most O1 steel. I would just wait, or keep in mind that you could use mild steel for the toothed stops.

Thanks Derek, I only the want the O1 for the travisher (and maybe a spokeshave now I have seen Clare Minihan's video). I saw your post a while ago on the bench stop, and promptly cut the end of an old saw plate, drilled a couple of holes in it and screwed it into the top of the timber planing stop. It works, bit thin for the screws I used, but if I can get some O1 I may need to upgrade..........
There is another knife supply place who sells short lengths of 1075 and 1084 (they describe it as beginner steel) which is easily hardened. They sell short lengths. Creativeman.com.au

That's 'cos the darn link didn't insert properly, & I didn't check it after posting! Sorry about that, I'll try again - O1 gauge plate here.
Actually, Doug's mob may be the better bet; it's a bit cheaper, just depends on what width you want.
Cheers,IW
