    Hi Claw,

Like Waldo I also missed the start of this one. And like Artme said, excellent work. One fantastic bench, have always wanted to make one.

Thanks for all the progress photos.

    Cheers
    Pops

Hi one and all, been working over the weekend trying to put a lid on this one but slow and steady is the only way this one will go. Some more pics, this one is built for the tests of time so I have turned my own Red Ironbark dowels rather than use off the shelf dowels, stainless screws, should hold together for a year or two

    Thumbs up

    Top Job CH!!!

A man after my own heart!. I made my son a bed from Ironbark. When asked why I simply answered that I always wanted to make furniture from Ironbark and, besides. no bugger could steal it as is too heavy!!

Coming together very quickly. It is if you read it in one go as some have come in late.

Ok I'll go back in my box.

Hi Artme, yep no one will steel this in a hurry, not without a small team of people and transport.
Christos, you are just a scream mate, always looking for a belly laugh
Pete, the photos should help, the front end is doweled with the turned Ironbark dowel and the backend is drilled and screwed. I drill a 10mm hole first then slip the pilot hole in followed by a SS 50mm deck screw, waxed up for easy entry Once I have them all in I will plug them all with more dowel.
The slats in the back have one side doweled and the inner ends I have used the Kreg pocket hole jig with the 50mm SS deck screws again.

But it will be a bugger to move when the mowing needs to be done. Or it might be a crafty plan so the mowing can't be done.

One thing comes out of building big stuff - you might not really have an idea of how you are going to move it. At least that's sort of what happened when I moved my bookcase the other weekend, but that is for elsewhere not here.

Have you done a lets-lift-it-to-see-how-we-go test? Pretty soon I wonder if the Earth's axis might change with some of the stuff being built.

Hi guys, yes heavy but two people (strong) can lift it. Mind you it has to go up stairs at the front of the clients house and through a gateway where it will have to be lifted over head height to clear the gate posts. I have requested he hve at least 4 other strong people on hand to get it to his back yard.
I still have to put a few screws in, plug some more holes at the back and a lot of sanding but I am looking forward to putting some oil on it now I have all those rotten slats out of the way.

Have you guys seen the pine bench seat "King of the castle" on the front of "The Woodworker & Woodturner" magazine, you could make that with both eyes closed and one hand tied behind your back.

Maybe you could but i need all the eyes and hands i can muster And the eyes aren't that good any more. They need some help too.
Did the bench get out the door on time or did all the visitors on the weekend put you behind.
Those were the droids I was looking for.
