Macrocarpa chairs
IMG_0273.JPG IMG_0274.JPGJust finished a set of outdoor chairs made from macrocarpa (Monterey cypress) from Gippsland.
Very interesting timber to work with. Shavings unlike I have come across before.
Now for a table.

Good looking chairs!!!
Sawa lot of macrocarpa furniture in NZ which i liked the look of. Only problem seemed to be with wider
boards on table tops - the split.

Are those chairs from the plans in an old American Woodworker magazine? I have made several that look very similar.

Correct. The plan has a bug in it that caused me a bit of grief for a while.

Yes, I'm wondering whether I should mount 4 steering wheels on the table!

I like very much, any chance of a link to the plans and what is the bug in the design that has to be corrected?

I found the table here:
Outdoor Furniture Plans - WoodArchivist
and the chairs here:
Patio Chair Plans • WoodArchivist
I modified the table so that it is not a high-top, and also made it 29" square by reducing the number of slats from 13 to 9.
The bug in the chair plan is that the pattern given for the seat bottom is too long to fit the assembled frame. The length of the pattern between the notches needs to be 18 3/8" to fit. There is no way of knowing where the extra length was inserted, so I trimmed the front curve and the space between the notches, keeping the rear alignment with the frame at 1/8" as stated. I can measure my modified template and send you details if you send me your email address.
