It could've been a bridge too far...Sorry, sorry, can't help myself.

Back on topic, regarding the extra tile, you'd have to ask yourself why. Do you need any further decorative elements? IMO, I'd say not really.

I think I'm with Glider. The top is fantastic and draws the eye up and away from the pleasing timber work. It may be because I'm a woodworker that my eye always goes to the woodwork first then to the other elements.
I see and admire the timber and the workmanship then I look more closely at the highlights and additional features. I don't think the extra tile/s is/are needed.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

    I’m going with no tiles.

I agree with Ian, I think it would look better with the doors flipped 180*, so the green glass is up top, then one tile in line.

I’ve certainly got used to the dresser with NO tiles on the centre panel and so will leave it that way ...... for the moment
Im slowly checking off the TO-DO list with today’s achievement being setting and caulking of the leadlight panels and fitting of the shop-made glazing trim.

One of the SECRET COMPARTMENTS has jammed (I presume due to the current humidity) and that must be fixed. The 2 outer drawers track inwards slightly and interfere with the centre drawer if it also open and the 4 adjustable shelves need to be made/acquired. The shelves were going to be polished-edge clear glass BUT I’m starting to think it would look better with the shelves being glass edged by 40mm wide red cedar?
Either way ....... IT WILL SOON BE FINISHED

Bit of an occupational hazard with secret compartments, it seems. I wanted to show one of my daughters the SC I'd built into a piece, & for the life of me, I couldn't budge the disguising pilaster. I couldn't think of a way to make a catch that would be sufficiently hidden to maintain the 'secret' so I'd made the cover a friction fit, so it would look as much like a 'fixed' part of the structure as possible. Works well for most of the time....

    Cheers,

Harking back to the day now thankfully forgotten, this piece was to have an Art Nouveau alter ego and hence glass shelves would have been the go? Even though it is now Arts and Crafts in style, the presumption of glass shelves had remained? However, by allowing a bit of time to pass, it was obvious that timber shelves would be much more appropriate and so I have started to make 4. Here is the first one fitted, I’m VERY happy.....

    Yep, definitely timber shelves.

I’ll use up the last of my fiddleback Australian red cedar to finish the next 2 shelves tomorrow .....
